Unwürdiges Kabarett (Cabaret Indigno)

  • Theater im Delphi Gustav-Adolf-Straße 2 Berlin, BE, 13086 Deutschland (map)

“Unwürdiges Kabarett” (Cabaret Indigno) is the result of a collaboration between Brazilian actress, singer and pianist Cida Moreira with artists from the project Cancioneiro Queer. Songs from Weimar Republic, Brazilian Musical The- atre from Chico Buarque, as well as pieces by Caetano Veloso, David Bowie, Kurt Weill/Bertolt Brecht, and others, are performed in a queer fashion. The Cabaret recognizes and celebrates those that society deems as “unworthy”. A “femmage” to Brazilian and international LGBTQ music from different historical moments!

The performance also paid tribute to Marielle Franco, who was a member of the Brazilian Socialism and Freedom Party (PSOL) and President of the Women's Committee of the Rio de Janeiro City Parliament. On 14 March 2018, Marielle was the victim of an assassination attempt in Rio de Janeiro, which led to the murder of one of the first prominent queer black female leaders in contemporary Brazilian history.
